How do I ... in Open Office?
This page is a compilation of little tricks I have found to be difficult to find on the Internet, but that are neccessary for doing simple tasks.
Create a new document with template from right click context menu
Sometimes I want to create a new open office text document in some location in my computer. For that I use right click and then select New-> Open Document Text. It does create a new Open Office text document, but completely ignores the default template. The solution is simple:
- Create a new odt document from your template
- Save it as odt not ott!
- Rename it to soffice.odt
- Copy it to C:\Users\[your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Templates
- That's it! Give it a go!
